| Last spring I led a field trip to a local farm that applies most of their fertilizer with the planter and has applied significantly less than maintenance rates of P&K for many years.
What impressed the students most about this farm was how they have reallocated their resources. The money that they are not spending on build and maintenance fertilizer programs has been invested in grain handling/drying/storage/scales, pattern tiling, trucks...etc...
It was an eye opener for the students... and led to some good discussion in class and with their families.
