There is an option in the device manager to Scan for Hardware and it will find any new and/or removed hardware that is present.  If it doesn't find it then the wifi card is probably bad.  Like others have said, get a USB adapter or open up the case, find the card, and replace it.  Very likely available on ebay for less than $50.
