Very southern Mn | Deere went up almost twice as much as inflation last few years. The reality is they aren’t going to sell much new equipment. I believe our trade price per sep hr price went from around 300 to 800 now. Obviously that isn’t going to happen. I do blame equipment companies. They got too hoggish and now it is out of wack. I am not crying about it but as my dad said, water eventually seeks its own level. If I was a dealer which I am glad I am not, I would be concerned how this is going to get worked thru.
What frustrates me more is the quality of new products. We have a 100 hr 780 that rotor gear box went out as they forgot to put enough grease in. I guess dealers got a service memo on it so we aren’t only ones. Another acquaintance is having all kinds of problems with his two new ones. We have traded combines quite frequently and have never had more than a couple hrs down time. We just got going after 24 hrs downtime and that is because dealer bent over backwards to get us going. If build quality is going down you really lose a lot of incentive to trade. You can almost own two for one of new vs auction low hr combines. | |
