I would wager most farmers could get by with older equipment without it hurting their profitability, in fact, the money spent on continuously upgrading equipment might be significantly more than any loss in productivity due to downtime.
If equipment is too high just make do with what you have. Older equipment can be just as reliable as new equipment if properly maintained.
