Had an old 224 Deere flex head that we were cutting wheat with. It started snapping the sickle. Mostly in the first 6’ toward the knife head. There were no splices in that one and we welded the sickle each time and did not have any repeats in the same spot, always another spot. Got good at fixing that thing!
Then we snagged a guy wire anchor around an old well site and the knife drive (wobble box) locked up. Grabbed another one off another old head we had out back and swapped the base mount that was different etc to install it on the 224. We ran that head for another two years without breaking that same sickle again! | |
