Faunsdale, AL | I can’t really imagine that sort of global destruction. It brings to mind the amount of plastic pipe we use today that will burn in a grass fire. Culverts, well casings, cattle troughs and sometimes the pipe up to the float. Then add in all the wood.
Is fire insurance for hay available? Went my whole life until I was nearly 50 making hay and never had a problem until we started stacking round bales in barns in a big way. First cutting rye grass and vetch caught fire and burned two barns. One a total loss because it was over half full of hay but managed to save most of the structure of the other one. I learned on the second one if round bales squat badly and start to smell very strongly of HAY, better get them out and separated!
