Faunsdale, AL
The best known weatherman in Alabama, James Spann, always says that it doesn’t take an F4, even a little F0 tornado is a disaster when it touches down on your street.

This flooding event is bigger than many and the mountains just complicate the response even further. One thing I haven’t heard of that I was expecting is of dam failures. Maybe that’s coming along with all the stories of peoples experiences during the flooding and the time since until they got help.

I expect the folks in Florida and South Georgia are asking why there’s not more media attention on that part of the Hurricane track with the high wind damage. It’s always hard to see what’s going on elsewhere when you’re up to your waist in your own alligator pond, so to speak!

I think though that the response to that area was pre planned and much of it was pre positioned ahead of landfall and though there are always snags and delays, I expect it’s probably working as planned. Not so much in the mountains.

The mention of cash always brings out the haters. I’m sure it’s a drop in the bucket for some folks but it’s meant to help get them through the first of the recovery. I doubt there’s anything to spend it on for lots of folks. Money can’t make stuff appear if it’s not available to buy……but give folks time!
