Cherokee County, Northwest Iowa | I will be selling approximately .2 acre of land to a friend who owns the acreage on that farm, they are wanting to put in a leach field. We will be having it surveyed. Been friends for decades, we are wanting to keep expenses to do this as low as possible.
Do we need to hire a lawyer to write up a real estate contract, or can we do a little research on the internet, and see what all is needed to be written down to make it a legal contract? Will have it recorded either way at the county recorders office.
I asked the nice lady at the recorder's office, she smiled and had to give me the standard "We encourage everyone to engage the services of an attorney for legal matters". She said all that while smiling, I didn't catch her winking her eye at me, though.
