Cleveland, MS. Own small farm near Booneville, MS | Morally speaking, Carter was probably the best President we have had since the early 1800s. Policy wise, he was one of the worst. Carter was/is a devout Southern Baptist. As a result, he believes in the doctrine of premillenialism. That focused his attention on the Middle East and he spent an inordinate amount of time trying to broker a peace between Israel and Egypt. He did succeed - to a degree. But, in my opinion, it was ultimately all wasted effort. Those folks have been fighting for 4,000 years. They're not going to stop because some "infidel" asks them to stop. Carter's after Presidential life was much better than his Presidency. He is a good humanitarian. That's his element. As President he was in way over his head. I wish him well. |
