The issue with those pliers is they open in an arc and tend to pull themselves off the snap ring. Several companies make them that open with the jaws parallel to each other. They work much better.

This right here. Not sure which tool truck they came from but I have a pair that the jaws open parallel. Just did the tilt cylinders on my 148, easy peasy
What tool do I need for this snap ring
