I was reading something yesterday that said dock workers in the gulf made between 13-17 an hour, but that can’t be right.
That’s right for starting wages as a new hire. When people start they don’t have full time employment or a set location or hours. They start out as “casual” workers that flow between jobs as needed and it takes some years for a full time single location job to open up. Most guys work another job off the port their first couple years because the pay is not livable.
