Wife waitressed back in the day as a second job to pay off student loans quicker. Op is the customer they all fight over who gets stuck with them that night. Has to make them feel special as a customer and guess exactly what they want from condiments to who should be served first just to get a tip. Meanwhile, there are regulars that come in, ask how their night is going and leave a generous tip without all the hassle. Those are who keep the lights on and the staff happy.
As for the cash deal, you are a minority using it. Just remember, your generation is on its way out and with it are some of your traditions. I’m not saying you can’t use cash, just don’t expect it to be 1975 where it’s the most widely used form of payment. |
