Subject: Junk Jaunt find

East of Broken Bow
Here in Nebraska, every fall we have a 'junk jaunt' which to oversimplify is a group of smaller towns along a couple highways that decided to coordinate yard/garage sale dates so that people could drive a route, and find sales in several towns along the way. Been going with the wife and kids last few years as kind of a family outing, looking for treasures.
Anyway, to get to my point. for the novelty of it, I bought an old radio (sorry no pictures). It is an old vacuum tube radio that is set up in a cabinet that looks to me to be a card table. Flat top, about the size of a card table when opened up. It has drop leaves on 2 sides that reduce it to I'd say just over half size when they are up. Plugged it in, and the radio works just fine. Sounds a little tinny, but catches stations that we can't catch with anything else, and I always thought my wife's car had a good AM tuner. Looking at it farther, it seems to also have a setting to receive short wave as well.

I bought it just as a novelty or conversation piece, but when I got it home, no one had seen anything quite like it before. My dad said he could picture people playing cards while listening to the radio, or if the radio is old enough listening to short wave news broadcasts during WWII or Korea (didn't find anything with a date on it yet, but didn't look that hard). Regardless, I was just curious if anyone else has heard of anything like it.
