I understand this doesn’t answer your question but hear me out.
What is the purpose of confirmation?  It is a way to force your children to learn about your church and hopefully become members. I am not saying it is bad but think about what it is actually doing, mostly turning the kids off on church.

Most of the denomination churches are rooted in tradition and are unwilling to change, thus are losing members and slowly dying. Look at the age of your church members and tell me I’m wrong.

Our church, a nondenominational church does not require or even encourage membership. We encourage attendance and have between 4 and 5 hundred per Sunday. Our age ranges from new born to the 90s.

We have Sunday school through the fifth grade and sixth through high school we have what is called student life. They meet once a week during the school year.
60 to 70 attend weekly, they start with games and talk amongst themselves. When the music starts they head into the auditorium and instead of sitting down they head to the front of the stage and basically have a mash pit as they sing and dance to modern Christian songs lead by their peers. Then one of the pastors shares a message that pertains to their lives and what is happening with church.

It seems to be working as we have students from all the other churches in town as well as the unchurched. They are sometimes bringing parents who have drifted away back to church.

I am not trying to start a fight, just pointing out reality.

Chuck
