Subject: At what moisture do you say heck with drying and send to town?

20 Miles West of Indianapolis Indiana
I have a slow and inefficient dryer at the moment. My neighbor has a fit that that I send 17-18% corn to town rather than dry it. This is while the dryer is running and full and we would be stopped waiting anyhow.

Wondering what others tolerance is for drying charge/deduction. The majority of my corn is 20% or less. We have the ability to jump around some and it not destroy our efficiency depending on where we are that day. So shelling some 20% corn for the dryer and some 17-18% for town once the dryer is full isn’t all that bad for us.

For my batch drying bin I just feel it is a waste to load it and dry and then take a day to haul out when the weather is nice and we can shell…
