Alton, Ia | We did it, sort of a few years ago, dry beans, ran fan on humid days. Eventually noticed fan wasn't moving much air. The bottom layer swelled up tight, stopping air flow. Even had a hard time getting them to drop into the sump. When we got to sweep auger time, there was a hard layer about 4" deep at the bottom. My recommendation would be to put a static pressure gauge into the plenum, and watch it, if it starts to climb, pull some out.
We had a guy try to sell us an automated system a few years ago, he had some program that utilized local weather data. It showed it would take until June for us to get 9% back to 13. Air's too dry in the fall, too cold until April.
Safer bet is to pile them on a slab. Local co-op did that one winter, supposedly they gain around $500K in weight before they were picked up.
