Pittsburg, Kansas | Good for you!
Kind of reminds me of my food addiction. I thought I could never give up sweets and starchy vegetables. But thirty years of being diabetic and my health going down hill pretty fast six years ago made the decision something had to change. Changed diet, got off all insulin shots (haven't taken insulin shots for over 5 years) and in two weeks gave up most carbs.
Turned my life around and no more food addiction. Turns out I could do without a lot of things I thought I couldn't and didn't really want to give up. Turns out being healthy and being able to actually do things is a lot more fun than the food I thought I needed.
Bad habits are hard to give up, but often worth doing so.
