There’s something to be said for home-raised replacement heifers. You know the cows they come from, cattle won’t have to learn you and your setup, and (at least I do) enjoy watching them develop to see if my guesses are correct!. Downside is it’s slow. Expense is a wash to me- you spend the $ either way, raising or buying.
