Subject: RE: Homeowner irrigation

North Central Kansas
I had a system installed this fall. He required me to have a 1” supply line with a shut off. All my line is 1”. I went to a 3/4hp sub drive pump last fall. It runs during the night. Works good. Plumbers for some reason have a hard time understanding that pipe sizing for rural/ag properties. When I built my farmstead from scratch in 1994 I had to argue with the plumber to put in 1”. My brother has 2” and 1.5” on his. I have switched most of my hydrants to the 1” Merrill frost free hydrants. They flow is much better than the Iowa hydrants.
