IADAVE - 9/10/2024 23:21 We are on the road to being like Cuba. No one can buy new as the cost is to high. in 2 years we will all be trying to make these 20 year old combines run.
Already there. 8820s and 7720 have had less downtime combined
(0 hours
) than any one of our other newer combines. 20 series service program is blow and go - and they don't even need blown as often as the newer ones. 20 series brochure claimed they were the most reliable combine ever made. I have never seen that claim for any newer combine...
I used to think like that. Still have a 8820 in the shed. Damn good combine. But back in the day we were only cutting 1,500 acres a year with 8820. If I ran it over 12,000 acres we have today or 6,000 if you want to be fair since we run 2 combines, then it won't be as reliable as some you think. When I measure reliability I take in account the amount of acres and bushels our newer combines process.
