I just take my field cultivator and multipass the area where the holes are in different directions. does a decent job of smoothing out the mound and the hole. I also use the field cultivator to level gopher mounds by lowering the cultivator to just clear the ground but not the mound. takes a couple of passes and does not damage the alfalfa.
