El Campo/Houston, TX | Have an old Cat 3204 powered excavator. The other day was running it and it blew one of the little hoses to the oil cooler . I’m embarrassed to admit it but it ran AT MINIMUM 10 plus minutes with absolutely no water in it at full throttle (while tracking it). Was pouring white steam/smoke out of blow by tube and engine got so hot that the yellow paint turned orange and when pulled dipstick out it was smoking and couldn’t hold it without gloves. Let it cool over night , fixed hose and filled with coolant, changed the oil (wasn’t milky or anything besides smelling burnt) and it fired right up and no more blow by than previously before this problem. Have ran it about 7 hours since and appears to be fine. Is this even remotely possible?? | |
