Not a physicist so bear with me on this one. Photo cells perform best at near infrared wavelengths that plants do not use. New photo cells can be developed that would reflect wavelengths plants could use effectively making anything next to the solar panel give off the edge effect. As an added bonus the near infrared light the plants reflect off of them can be absorbed by the photo array
Also solar collectors do not intercept all photons some pass through directly.
The whole thing could become a real win for Rural America.
Electricity replacing ethanol and bio diesel touted as being good for ag is very speculative and debatable. We will find out soon enough because it doesnt seem to be negotiable. We will need to find other things to grow on the land. Any ideas? |
