East of Broken Bow | Lower the tractor/combine or whatever, so that the bottom bead is sitting in the drop of the rim. Get your tire irons out and pull the top part of the bead over the rim. When you get about 1/4 to 1/3 of the tire over the rim, clamp vise-grips to the rim to hold the tire out. Now jack the tractor up so that the bottom of the tire comes off the ground. Now keep working the tire off the rim, gravity will help. It goes without saying to use good lube.
To remount lower the tractor, hook the top part of the bead on the rim, then raise until the tire comes off the ground. Again, gravity will help you.
Tire guy showed me that. Makes sense if you think about it, if the tire weighs 500+ pounds, if you use gravity to your advantage, it is that much less force you will have to apply with the tire irons. | |
