north central Ohio | If I own the land and don't want them what is the issue with that? If they want to do the solar projects have them buy the land and do what they will with it then. I looked at putting them in for our own use and honestly I didn't see how they paid all that well. I didn't understand the credit system for taxes and the whole thing when said and done seemed like a scam. For our electric company you still have line fee every month and makes up a decent portion of the bill so you never totally get rid of a bill. Would also assume the more people who get solar the higher the line fee will go as it costs the same to maintain lines whether they are selling you electric or not. They come after high production ground in our area and when you ask about less desirable farm ground they have no interest. The payment per acre they offered in 2020 and land run up since you would be way behind today with there adjusted 2% yearly increase they were offering. Can the farming and solar coexist together as you think? May be some options with grazing if you never spray or fertilize your pasture or using as fence posts as you suggest could. Crop farming as you suggest I see no way that being remotely practical for many reasons. | |
