| I have some. But what are some of yours?
I bought a JD 230 disc. Yes I know they are not great. But price was. Let’s say I take off 4 newly mounted used truck tires, many new hyd hoses. Not even scrap metal price.
The disc had sat +6 years. First 12 miles I noticed one axle get hotter, and hotter. *often after heat melts old waxy grease, it better. But it was really hot 20 miles later. So I find shade, pull dust cap, clean out easy grease, I tightened nut 2/3 turn. *too lazy to Jack up, set right*. Squirt in some WD-40 as I had it handy. Then 3 tablespoons motor oil *it should be 80-90 gear lube but I forgot to bring it* slap cap on, tap tight. 10 miles it’s cooler. By time I am home it’s as cool as rest.
I have done this a few times. Stuff parked for years. If it gets hot, some oil in. *you need to remove some old grease, and scratch at least a path for oil to get inside. The old wax/grease can seal it*
I learned long, long ago. If it’s getting hot. You either get oil in, or are replacing bearings for next few hours.
So what tricks can you share? | |
