Holly Hill, SC | So many farmers talk about the best way to create boundaries by making an extra trip in the off season around their fields with some sort of vehicle. There are much better ways. My first boundaries where created the first time I sprayed my fields with my new JD 4730 sprayer in 2008. These were then edited if necessary on Apex. Since then all these fields are planted with RTK gps and what is planted represents the actual exact field. That downloaded planting data can be put on (at the time Apex) Operations Center or SMS Basic. An auto create boundary can be performed and then edits to these boundaries can be made for cleaner corners or straighter lines and telephone poles etc. Every three years or when necessary I view the boundary on top of last year's planting data and adjust boundaries as necessary. (Operation Center currently does not allow edit boundary and planting map to be overlayed) I plant the end rows last and require a perfect boundary so my planter rows cut off perfectly at the headland offset. So in summary, I would suggest you pull your last year's planting data up on your computer and spend no more than 5 minutes on each field creating perfect boundaries and upload those to all your monitors. Good luck. | |
