As stated it is the intense production of fruit/ vegetables that need honey bees. We have decent pollinators as lots of waste land , forest edges, places for odd ball insect pollinators to hang out. In areas with just crops not many native insects survive. One of my best ground dwelling bees nest area was at my sprayer fill site ,was there at least a decade. Grew up as the son of a migrant bee keeper,stories galore, night work , rain work., too many hours continuous trucking,, did you know bee keepers trucking bees are exempt for most DOT rules including med cards,,
