Safety first, is the biggest reason to be in the left lane, almost all off and on ramps are on the right, so if you are not going to exist highway safest place to be is the left lane. From earlier this YEAR Driving in the left lane is almost always safer when driving on freeways. Why should I do something that makes it more likely for me to be in a crash while driving? If someone is driving all the way thru a city with off and on ramps on the right there is no reason for them to be in the right lane.
clevepreach - 6/2/2024 21:16 getting ready to make a LEFT TURN within the next half mile (max distance ) you need to be in the RIGHT LANE! So what would you do when you come up behind a vehicle that is driving in the right lane 30 to 40 mph slower than you (since it wants to make a left turn in 300yd ) with its left turn signal on? What about if that vehicle is stopped in the right lane at an intersection? Better to just avoid being this vehicle stuck in the right lane by moving over when it is safe to do so 2 or 3 miles before turning. |
