about 20 tears ago I wanted to know if saving corn seeds over would produce a good corn yield. So I saved a bucket full of corn that didn't run through the dryer and planted 8 rows next to the same variety of new seed. Looked pretty good all year. results were 140 bu/ac saved seed and 180 bu/ac for the new seed. All summer the saved seed was a foot shorter stalks and the ears were an inch shorter than the new seed. So 40 bushel difference at today's price equals about the cost of seed.
