UP / Thumb of Michigan | I've had sleep apnea (diagnosed) for many years. Over 30 at least. Tried a CPAP when they were kind of new. Couldn't do it, kept me awake. Poor fitting masks for starters. Anyway, decided this winter it was easier to try to keep my wife happy by getting a new sleep study done (in home this time) and try to use a CPAP again. This time, getting along with it much better than before. My wife says its working great. I feel zero difference in anything, but if she's happy, I'm happy.
I know many who claim they can't sleep without a CPAP, I can go to sleep without it just fine. Just not for very long, CPAP or not.
But- even with religious use of the machine during my trial period, I was non-compliant. Still am. I wasn't averaging more than 4 hrs a night sleep, which the supplier said is what Medicare required to pay for the machine. My Dr wasn't particularly concerned, but that didn't change anything. I bought the machine outright and I have to buy my own supplies. | |
