In Cedar Falls Iowa there was an arrangement where four trees were planted in a fairly close square. The four trees were later tied together so there was four trunks that grew into one tree. There was a walkway underneath. When I saw it over fifty years ago it was a decent sized tree by then. I have no idea if it is still standing today. It was just north of the college campus at the time. Have any of you eastern Iowans seen it?
Yes, have walked under it. IIRC it was a German amateur botanist that spliced/grafted it together. The 4 trunks are still there and a few feet above, but the wind pulled the rest of it down. J |
