Iowa
I live 30 minutes NE of Ames and this would be my list…

BBQ: Cornbred in Ames or Whatcha Smokin’ in Luther. Don’t waste your time at Jethro’s.

Experience: Hickory Park. The food has gone downhill since the founder retired and sold to an investment group but it is still worth experiencing once.

Burger: Brick City

Pizza: Great Plains Sauce & Dough

Cocktail: no idea. It has been a long time since I found anywhere in the Ames-area that can make a cocktail like the bartender can at the Social Club in Eldora. So if you like a good cocktail, especially a smoked Old Fashioned, a field trip may be in order while you’re in the area….

Breakfast (worth the trip for the cinnamon roll): Sweet Oaks in Collins

Breakfast (worth the trip for the biscuits & gravy + cinnamon roll)- The Bakery in Radcliffe

Steak: Babe’s in Radcliffe
