Not true at all. Corn plant shows denitrification when the plant itself is showing low N has nothing to do with a 6 bu ear or a 600 bu ear. The plant will pull remaining N supplies from the ear to keep itself alive first so if it’s showing nitrogen stress it’s because there’s none there to take. Grow an ear in a sandbox with no nitrogen you’ll soon see that it will turn yellow from lack of N regardless of the size of the ears present. Good try though.
