Do you ask people what value bushel they are using?

1.244 cubic feet in a Winchester, a level bushel a heaped bushel an imperial bushel that's 1.28 cubic feet or a struck bushel?

Why not some other archaic measure? Two bushels in a strike. Is that a British strike or a level strike?
