Subject: RE: Electric motorcycles

Pittsburg, Kansas

Spears said that EM was 80 horsepower. It probably weighs between 250 and 300 pounds. I have a Honda CRF450RL that I don't remember for sure but I think it is around 40 horsepower and weighs 292 pounds. So about the same size/weight bike as mine with double the horsepower. Wow! And 40 horsepower is scary to me and caused me to buy a KLX230 which is about the same weight as my Honda but I think around 25 horsepower. I can handle it just fine and actually put more miles on it than the Honda because it is as easy to ride as falling off a log. But that electric Spears was riding would be about the same weight/size with triple the power.

The main complaint with the EM's I have heard is range and time to refuel.

Edit: electric Varg weighs 262 so lighter than my 292# CRF450RL, which is not surprising since mine is street legal. That is probably about what a 450R motocross bike weighs.
