Agree. Some seem to have a problem with USDA estimates. Would like to hear suggestions as to how to do it with a greater degree of accuracy. Given the magnitude of the area covered seems like they do a decent job. Can farmers get as close estimating yields on their own farm, the neighbors farm, their county or state? That might be irrelevant but just my humble opinion.

Their goal is not accuracy. Their goal is providing comfort and calm to the market. Maybe you like cheap food policy or maybe you dont, but that is their reason for existence. There "service" does come at a significant cost to tax payers. And it does provide fodder for gamblers on the board. That much power in the hands of a few people is an opportunity for more corruption in government. They do disrupt markets greatly and often.

The yield number they assign for 2025 is already known. Why do we need the government to announce it at 11:00 on a certain day? Everyone already knows potential yields of crops.
They should report acres live as they have that data and export sales and go home. Let the market figure out the rest.
For the people.
