| A major part of the buy cheaper is the fact that most families are two kids deep, I grew up in a family of 8 kids every pair of jeans, very shirt, every bed, every toy, every record player, every pair of boots, everyone winter coat, were shared as hand me downs. With two kids one girl one boy nothing needs to be handed down so buying quality is not nearly as important. Lastly because we have traded out low paying assembly jobs for much higher paying tech type jobs people have much more upward mobility in their futures buying TV's , furniture, and appliances are bought for max seven years as most plan on moving out of apartment into rental house than into starter home then into the McMansion then to the empty nest house and then to retirement village, and finally to the assisted living facility new stuff with each move. Buying things that last 30 years just is not the goal. | |
