| Okay so you have a limited number of kennels sure. Kernel weight can be denser or lighter. Kernel depth can be smaller or greater. Kernels can be big and light or big and dense. Kernels can be small and light or small and dense.
Kernel weight is just one factor of of what makes yield. It is one factor of what makes test weight. High test weight does not necessarily mean high yield or even high kernel weight!
Test weight will never be an indicator of yield because it always considers volume. We only sell by weight. We only care about weight. We don’t care whether it’s light chunky corn or dense small kernel corn. Just give me the most lbs/acre.
You won’t believe it but deep beautiful kernels can have really terrible test weight while still yielding hugely. | |
