West Central Wisconsin | I have used a steamer/juicer when I was making wine years ago. I've steamed concord and wild grapes, cranberries, apples, elderberries and wild plums. We filled a sanitized pint canning jar, filled it directly with grape juice out of the juicer and placed a lid on it. All of the lids sealed within half an hour. We had planned on water bathing them but once the lids started sealing we didn't feel a need. We also froze some plum juice and made jelly out of it at a later date.
The big disadvantage of juicing is the heat in the kitchen and time it takes. The nice thing about it is you just wash the clusters of grapes and load the steamer/juicer. This was especially nice when doing those tiny elderberries and not staining your fingers purple. Here's a link to the one I have. https://www.norpro.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/619-Instruction-Bo... | |
