Northwest IL | USDA yield average over last 8 years is 174.2 bushels per acre. Sata shows we are above versus below that number this year because of the cool weather, 9-10 bushels above? I agree there is some great corn out there what about the bad stuff? What does that data say and should that move the yield down or did it just keep us from a 187-187 national yield? Areas are different but be careful thinking some guys have horrible yields or are bad managers and then rent it out to big farms with great yields. The opposite of that is a 500-600 acre farmer does a good job and gets 250 bushel the acre due to doing things right and even uses 15-20 year old equipment. Big farmer comes in and gets in a hurry and slams that 500-600 acres in a day where a guy shouldn’t be planting and that 250 yield becomes much lower. | |
