Sorry, it’s been busy getting things ready for harvest and then my mother passed away unexpectedly early yesterday morning. So, I’ve been a bit busy, but got an alert on Twitter for this and thought y’all would like to see the data.

Light areas have been burning up the last few days, haven’t had a chance to see where the milkline is at. Silage chopping should start up again on maybe Friday.

Hope y'all had a good holiday weekend.

Much appreciated, Cole. She’s fought cancer a few times and has had bad nerve pain for a couple decades. I just try to remember she is in a better place now and not in pain anymore.

Terrible finish to the crop here in NE MO. Beans shorted on water in August. Will be worst bean crop we have had in several years. May planted corn dropping ears last week at 1/2 milk line. August shrunk the crop potential here for sure.

Very sorry to hear of your loss. I lost my father to a long cancer battle, and it was a tough journey. When he passed, I had a bit of euphoria that his suffering was finally over, but after that it became a much different feeling of deep loss... Along the way, he taught me that "Every day is a good day!", and I do feel that way now more than ever before. Cherish the memories and keep them alive and fresh - never let them fade!!

Take care and have a safe harvest season.

Sorry to hear about your mom. When we are young seems like it takes forever to get to 20. When we get older it’s where did the time go. May the good Lord be with you and your family during these days of grief

Sorry to hear about your mother SoDak. Take a personal day if that would help you out no shame in that. On the other hand, I understand keeping busy in times of tragic loss or sorrow can keep your mind off of it for awhile and make it manageable. Hope your harvest turns out well. Thanks for taking the time to post.

Take care bud. Wishing your family the best and have peace in this trying time.

As far as the crop goes around here, ears dropping like crazy, seems weird, we were wet until 3 weeks ago and not a drop since. Oh well, we are helping to reduce the national average, you can thank me later…

NW Illinois corn won’t beat last year. A decent amount of Nitrogen loss showing up last 30days in the lower and wetter spots. #2 top county in Illinois “Carroll” also showing this.

For many areas this crop is having a less than glorious finish. There’s certainly going to be some tremendous yields, but there is also going to be some serious heart break in places.

Sorry for your loss. When you have a loss like that the markets mean nothing.

Our crops in our area in NW Ohio are going down hill fast. We will in no way come close to what FC Stone says. You need to remember they work for the commercial end user.

I think they are low for Iowa corn. 222 or more would be my guess.

I’m sorry to hear about your mother, it appears that she has raised a good son, and I hope you and your family are holding in well

On a much less important note: I don’t understand how Missouri, which was already projected to grow a record 180 bu/ac crop gained 3 bu/ac in August. Just seems nonsensical

Sorry for your loss.
As to the yields, I haven't traveled much, but 'here' anything non irrigated is hurting, and going downhill fast.

It's been over 2 months since we got over a half inch at a time, and a total of about an inch or a hair more in that time. We started July 2 inches over 'normal', and are now more than 3 inches below 'normal'. That means we have gotten about 5 inches less than 'normal' in July and August. In a normal year, the August monsoons and hurricanes send us moisture. Not so much this year. We even had hay down and could only get a quarter inch on it - in two rains over 2 days.

Sorry to hear that Sodak, best wishes to you and your family.

For yields, I personally think it’s laughable to see all these increases on limited late season rain. Personally, I believe if you ask yourself if this crop has gotten bigger or smaller since August 1, I don’t know how you can say bigger. Setting up to be a surprise down the road Imo
