| A true slave did nothing to deserve being a slave other than to be viewed as property of someone else. It wasn’t a choice of the individual to enter into slavery. They had nothing to do with being a slave. They have no time table of when they end being a slave. They have no input on when they get to end their slavery.
Someone imprisoned made a choice to do a crime and is being punished for their action.This imprisonment is seen as a means of correcting behavior and/or paying back the cost of their crime. If labor is part of that correction or restitution, that is due to their choice to commit a crime. No one made them commit a crime in order to make them be in prison. They do have an ending to their prison sentence but that prison sentence was due to their own doing.
I’m not saying either one is right. I’m saying they are different and should never be compared as the same.
