I would think the same applies here. I residential rate at the coop is about 8 cents a kWh, so would think the payback on a solar build would take a long time.


Doing the work yourself changes everything. The solar installer quotes I've seen are crazy, they bid about 5x material cost. With profit on a 3 man crew of about 10,000 a day. I'm sure there are good reasonable contractors out there too if you look for them.

But, if you have a little skill, you can do 80% of the install yourself, and have an electrician come make the final connections.

Or is some jurisdictions, as long as it's your own use, you can do the complete job.
