Nw Iowa
Our health ins and non covered health care costs and property ins on home and non farm side are 40 to 45% of our living costs. Wife and I , kids are gone, no payments on any vehicles or house, try to go on one week vacation a year and I look at end of year at living costs and makes you sick. I can’t imagine a working family that has 3 kids even with health ins but most have a copay, trying to make payments on a home, 1 or 2 cars, not being able to deduct much of anything. Than those that have payments on campers, motorcycles, snowmobiles, boats and all that other stuff. They dig a hole that would look impossible to me. I have a acquaintance that has a good employee who he is trying to help the individual get their finances in order and just hard to get ahead when they keep making poor decisions on top of bad decisions.
My dad who was quite successful, but worked hard, always credited my Mom with being able to take a dollar and stretch it beyond what was possible for his success. The old saying a wife can scoop out more with a teaspoon than a husband can shovel it back in with a scoop.
