Hastings, Florida | As a past produce farmer, sometimes we simply have to leave produce in the field, simply not worth harvesting.Low prices or stores are full already.
Supply and demand, too much of a product ready at one time, in different places growing the crop. Consumers only buy so much , and there is no way to store produce for any length of time.
Several times I had to simply abandon a field, could not sell the vegetable, not worth the expense of harvesting.
