I agree but I did find one that the bulb had split and had some rot so probably best I harvested.
Yes, this is hard neck and will produce a flower head but I removed the scapes before it could flower. My wife used the scapes to cook with. Edit: the variety is Russian Red. It seems to be well adapted to our environment.
I wish I could grow onions like you do. I have had varying success with them. I know you plant seedlings and I usually use Dutch sets so maybe that’s one thing I could try?
