S Illinois | But do our competitors not have the same agronomic production cost structure? What does their fertilizer and chemicals cost. If no one across the globe can make money, production declines and prices rise.
The two biggest costs for most are land and machinery. Those are the two most producer decided costs to take on when producing grain.
What would a planter with all the bells and whistles of a few years ago cost of ordered today. The biggest cost line items currently on a planter are electric drives, hydraulic downforce, bulk fill(if we go back far enough). How expensive would a new planter with spring downforce, ground drive, box fill, finger pickup unit cost? And make sure we aren’t going from a 12 to 24 row. It would be interesting to see how many units that Deere sold of that Kinze knockoff/center rotating they designed and make especially for lower flow older tractors. | |
