Subject: RE: International 1586 good, bad or otherwise

Boone, Iowa
The main thing I do not like about the 1586 is the three speed tranny. I used a neighbors one time on my rotary hoe and never had the right gear to go through the field and turn around, even with the torque. The nice thing about this tractor is the final drives are very strong. You have a good engine, but will have to think about the torque and clutch replacement. I think it would be money better spent on an 88 series tractor. I had a 5288 for several years and really liked the tractor. You can buy these tractors for $18,000 plus/minus. The tranny is synchronized and has low, medium, and high range.
