S Illinois | I am not sure helping is the correct characterization. There is the altruistic view and there is the practical view.
We have 2 former USSR countries trying to advance economically by selling one of the few things they can export to a energy hungry country in Pakistan. But there is Afghanistan in the way. So they can say no and the other 3 countries are out of luck. Or they can basically hamstring the financing that Afghanistan receives in order to advance the project. They aren’t giving a blank check to the Taliban and “freeing” people is helped more by this project than not. The biggest driver of change is when people feel what freedom brings. | |
